Bouree From the Partita I

A transcription by Carlos Salzedo for intermediate-advanced pedal harp of J.S. Bach’s “Bourree” from Violin Partita I. This transcription preserves much of the Baroque affect inherent in the original work – it includes block chords where melodic emphasis is needed but consists primarily of a melody line harmonized in octaves and fifths. The work does get progressively more chromatic but it’s stark beauty contrasts well with the more lush Romantic style of later harp music.
